Injectables

Whether you’re looking to return volume to sunken cheeks, erase your crow’s feet, shrink your double chin, or add length and volume to eyelashes we have the injectables to do it. When we make expressions such as frowning, squinting, or smiling, muscles around our eyes, between our eyebrows, and on our forehead engage. Over time these contractions create wrinkles on the skin above the muscle. These wrinkles are known as “dynamic wrinkles.” These are crow’s feet next to the eyes, the 11s between the eyebrows, and forehead lines.

Fold and lines that are present when we’re not making facial expressions are known as “static wrinkles.” Unlike wrinkles formed by muscle contractions, these wrinkles are due to sun damage, declining collagen production, personal habits, and simple aging. Static wrinkles include smile and laugh lines, marionette lines, parentheses lines, and barcode lines. Using injectables, we are able to treat wrinkles, stress lines, furrows, and fine lines. Injectables can also be used to plump up areas of the face that have seen a reduction in fat and tissue, to create sculpting contours. Injectable procedures can have long-lasting results with virtually no recovery time. Depending on the extent of treatment, the procedure length can vary though treatment typically takes only a few minutes.

Neuromodulators

These injectables are made from a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin. When a neuromodulator is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve signal from the muscle to the brain. Since the brain doesn’t receive the message to contract the muscle it stays relaxed and the wrinkle on the surface skin doesn’t form.

Using an extremely fine needle, we can inject the treatment areas with great precision, minimizing the pain associated with the injections. No anesthetic is required, although you may choose to have the area numbed with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief, and you can resume normal activities immediately.

Treatment areas include

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Laugh lines
  • Crows feet
  • Upper lip lines
  • Other dynamic wrinkles
Botox Jersey City

Botox

Botox is a simple and safe procedure. It is one of the most extensively studied medical aesthetic treatments and is approved for use in over 70 countries. The safety and efficacy of Botox has been evaluated in over 400 peer-reviewed articles in scientific and medical journals.

While the duration of effect varies from patient to patient, the effects of Botox usually last from three to six months. Early clinical studies also indicate that the duration of treatment benefits is increased over time, so that you should require injections less frequently in the future.

Xeomin

Xeomin

Xeomin is the only clinically proven anti-wrinkle neuromodulator with XTRACT Technology, a state-of-the-art manufacturing process that uniquely purifies the molecule, removing the unnecessary proteins and leaving just the active therapeutic component, with the theory being that there will be fewer reactions and allergies without these carrier proteins.

The longevity of your Xeomin treatment may vary depending on how quickly your body metabolizes the solution. Typically, your results will last between three to four months.

Dysport

Dysport

Dysport, AbobotulinumtoxinA, is a safe and effective injection very similar to Botox for relaxing dynamically-created wrinkles and lines. Dysport may take effect as quickly as 24 hours and is just as effective as the other neuromodulators.

Dysport treatments typically last from to 3-6 months, with an average time of 4 months. With ongoing treatment the effects may last even longer.

Dermal Fillers

As we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure and aging. The underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and plump begin to break down, often leaving lines, wrinkles, and creases. Dermal fillers can help fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks.

Dermal fillers work in a completely different manner than neuromodulators. When injected beneath the skin, they help replace the hyaluronic acid and fat cells that are depleted in the skin, lessening the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and treat fat loss under the skin and create a “fuller” appearance. Our numerous dermal filler options each target a specific area where volume loss has occurred.

Dermal fillers are classified as either natural or synthetic. Natural fillers are made primarily from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that hydrates, plumps, and firms up the skin. Synthetic fillers use man-made items, such as calcium, to add volume and structure under the skin.

Juvederm

Juvederm

Juvederm is a smooth injectable gel made from modified hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body which helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume.

Heritage Veins and Aesthetics offers the following types of Juvederm:

Juvéderm smooths moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around your nose and mouth. Lasts up to one year.

Juvéderm Vollure softens moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles by adding subtle volume around the nose and mouth in adults over the age of 21. Lasts up to 18 months.

Juvéderm Voluma adds volume to the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss in adults over 21.

Juvéderm Volbella adds subtle volume to lips and softens the appearance of vertical lip lines.

Juvederm is a simple and safe procedure. Juvederm contains pain-reducing lidocaine to help manage pain or discomfort during the injections, although you may choose to have the area numbed with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Although Juvederm will eventually be reabsorbed back into the skin, the long-lasting formula will maintain results for six months to two years depending on the solution. The most common side effects include: temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain, tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps and bruising. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and short lasting.

Restylane

Restylane

Restylane was the first wrinkle and volume correction filler using hyaluronic acid gel. Restylane is used not only to fill in lines and creases, but to also increase fullness of the lips, define the lip line, and plump up sunken areas of the face facial to restore youthful appearance.

Restylane Silk is an injectable gel of hyaluronic acid and 0.3% lidocaine. The unique and refined formula is designed for precise lip shaping and for smoothing the lines around your mouth to create a natural look. The family of Restylane fillers contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Due to this addition, pain and discomfort are minimal. Results will vary by individual, but treatments generally last from six months to a year. The FDA studies revealed that 98% of patients in the study reported improvement in their lip fullness two weeks post injection and 76% were still reporting improvement after 6 months.

Synthetic Dermal Fillers
Radiesse

Radiesse

Radiesse is an injectable filler that contains smooth calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a water based gel carrier. It acts as a scaffold under the skin to provide lift, effectively treating moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Once injected, Radiesse provides immediate volume and correction but continues to work by stimulating natural collagen production. Over time, your body reabsorbs the gel carrier while your collagen starts to grow and infiltrate the area, replacing the gel with your own, natural tissue. The microspheres continue to provide the support and structure for your body to grow new tissue and collagen until the microspheres are also reabsorbed by your body.

Results have been shown to last a year or more in many patients, making the treatment results both immediate and long lasting.

Radiesse Is An Ideal Option For

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Pre-jowl folds
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Chin wrinkles, reshaping, and contouring
  • Back of hands to minimize appearance of veins and tendons
Sculptra

Sculptra

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that helps gradually replace lost collagen, restoring and correcting the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. It works by stimulating the rebuilding of the body’s own collagen to get rid of lines and wrinkles and restore a youthful appearance with gradual, natural looking results. It can be used to increase volume of depressed areas, particularly skin creases, wrinkles, folds, scars and eye rings. Sculptra results may last between 1-2 years, but will vary with the individual.

PLLA is a biocompatible (meaning it does not harm the body) and biodegradable (it is broken down by the body), synthetic polymer from the alpha-hydroxy-acid family (fruit acids). PLLA has been used medically for many years in dissolvable stitches, and does not require pre-treatment skin testing for allergies.

Belotero

Belotero

Belotero Balance is the newest hyaluronic acid filler to treat patients with moderate to severe nasolabial folds. It was specifically designed to be used in delicate areas and to treat superficial lines and moderate to severe wrinkles such as smile lines, vertical lip lines, lines in the corner of the mouth, marionette lines, and crow’s feet.

Belotero differs from other hyaluronic fillers in that it contains a specialized form of hyaluronic acid that is monophasic and double cross-linked. Because of its unique formulation, it may be less likely to cause lumpiness or discoloration than the other hyaluronic acid products. Belotero can safely be used in both men and women. While results vary among individuals, results typically last anywhere from six months to one year.
