About Laser Liposuction

Laser Liposuction is a laser-based system that combines liposuction, fat grafting, and skin tightening into a single convenient step. Laser Liposuction uses safe laser technology, clinically proven to gently remove live fat cells from common problem areas such as the abdomen, hips, flanks, and thighs. It then uses those same fat cells to fill the areas where extra volume is needed, such as the cheeks, restoring balance.

The problem with fat transfer/grafting has always been the viability of the fat. In clinical studies, Laser Liposuction reported amazing success rates, an average of 95 percent successful fat survival. The higher percentage of live cells, the higher chance for cell survival following reimplantation.

When the laser energy is used to make the fat easier to remove during the liposuction procedure, it triggers a wound response, causing the body to produce new collagen and elastin, which tightens and improves the skin. So, once the fat is removed, the skin also tightens thanks to the laser energy.

Laser Liposuction How Does It Work

How Does it Work

Under local anesthesia, a cannula is inserted into the liposuction area where it delivers laser energy to loosen fat cells. The fat cells are then harvested by the cannula. The laser energy also cauterizes blood vessels, minimizing bleeding and subsequent bruising, leading to a quicker recovery. The laser also triggers the body to remodel the existing collagen in the area and create new collagen and elastin to tighten the skin across the treated areas. The harvested fat cells are then injected into areas of volume loss such as the cheeks, around the mouth, under the eyes, and the breasts.

Recovery

Because the laser-assisted cannula doesn’t have to be moved about to break loose the fat cells, there is only minimal disruption under the skin in the treatment areas. This limits bruising and trauma to a degree that most patients can return to work or normal activities in just a couple of days. The areas where the fat is injected don’t require any recovery. There can be some slight bruising at the liposuction sites and the injection sites, but returns to normal within a week or so.

Frequently Asked Questions

The transfer of fat cells can be performed in a single treatment or in a series depending of your desired outcome.

Patients can expect to see an immediate difference. Most patients will see the improvement last for years.

No. BeautiFill is an outpatient procedure. Patients are completely awake and under local anesthetics, which avoids risks traditionally associated with general anesthesia. In addition, BeautiFill’s laser energy provides the added benefit of less bruising and swelling often seen with other fat harvesting methods.

This depends on the amount of volume you seek to remove and restore. The procedure can be done in multiple stages for minimal downtime. For smaller cases, such as face volumization, patients may experience a mild degree of swelling, bruising and soreness for 24-48 hours, none of which should prevent you from resuming daily activities the next day if desired.

Generally speaking, laser lipo results will be permanent. Fat cells removed with laser lipo will not grow back. However, if you do not follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen, it is possible for the remaining fat cells to grow larger if you gain weight.

As long as your weight gain is less than 10lbs, you shouldn’t notice any big difference in your body. Even if you gain more than 10lbs, it is unlikely you will regain the weight in the same area you had the laser lipo on.
